How many interactions in a day do you float through small talk with those you meet? Or how many acquaintances and strangers do you engage with where your goal was to see through to the depths beyond their display? As humans, we long for connection with others, though it is easy to get caught up in the mundane. Nobody wants to be judged only for what lies on the surface of ourselves, yet many are scared to truly showcase what is hidden beneath. The war between loneliness and setting ourselves free can be won, and through true linkage, what is hiding within will be released.

placestomenow is a creative group created by Caroline Vanstrom and Megan Arizmendi in the fall of 2023. The purpose of the group is to share creative pursuits to inspire and support each other, even as “hobbyists,” with a focus on 35mm film photography. Megan is based in Los Angeles and works as a development EP at a creative production studio that works on both documentaries and branded campaigns. Caroline is based in Brooklyn and works as a TV development and production executive. They met in college at USC and created placestomenow after developing a shared love of film photography in the lockdown months of 2020.
